Apologies for the delay in sending this out. We had a minor… eh… major… mishap with our laptop.

If you read last month’s newsletter, you might remember one of our June goals was to stop losing things after a couple oopsies in May. Well… the reason we’re delayed in sending this is because we were without our laptop for two weeks while we road tripped through Portugal. After arriving in Aveiro four hours after leaving Lisbon, we realized we left a bag outside the car when packing it… and the bag contained our laptop. Panic ensued. We called the hotel to see if anyone had turned in our bag and, of course, they had nothing. After 45 minutes, the hotel called back saying they found the bag still sitting on the side of the road with everything in it. Relief set in. We’re thankful for the Portuguese kindness!

And with that whirlwind of emotions… we are confident our streak of losing things is over. Britt is now back to her overly cautious, check everything five times routine.

We’re also officially halfway through our trip! We’ve seen and experienced a lot throughout the last six months, and we are extremely grateful to have a lot to look forward to!

YOU’RE INVITED — ONE & DONE BOOK CLUB

TL;DR: We are hosting a Book Club that will only ever meet one time.

We’ve enjoyed getting back into reading over the last few months, and it’s been even more fun debriefing with each other. We’ve talked about how we think we would have enjoyed joining a book club to spark conversations with friends, but they’ve always seemed super daunting… mostly because of the monthly commitment. I mean, everyone has some sort of commitment issues, right?

So… we thought we’d pilot a One & Done Book Club. “But what is a One & Done Book Club?”, you might ask. Thanks for asking! A O&D Book Club is exactly what it sounds like. We’ll plan and host one book club meeting and then disband the book club. We think this could be fun for anyone who can relate with our book club commitment issues and is looking for a one night (book)stand.

Let us know if you’re interested and then we will plan a date in September.

WHAT WE’RE LISTENING TO, WATCHING & READING

BRITT
📺 Selling Sunset (Season Six) — God awful, but still looking forward to next season.

JUSTIN
📚 The Vanishing Half — Working through this book has been a bit of a challenge as I can’t seem to get into it, but I want to see it through because I have heard many great things. I feel like I’m missing something. If you’ve read this book, let’s chat!

BOTH
📺 Platonic — In progress, but big fans so far! Seth Rogen plays… well, Seth Rogen per usual… but a slightly more mature version of himself. A heartfelt show with pretty decent character development.
📚 The Silent Patient — If you’re into thrillers, buckle up. This was a rollercoaster that had us on the edge of our seat until the very end. Many twists and turns.
📚 Verity — Another thriller. We could not put this book down. Seriously… we finished it in two days. However, it is definitely NSFW. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. We weren’t.

JULY GOALS

⏱️ Make More Efficient Decisions — Sometimes we find that we spend way too much time overthinking the little things. An easy, every day example is deciding on what to eat. We generally spend at least ten minutes reviewing a menu, talking about our favorite items, and asking the staff for their recommendations before coming to a decision. Are you exhausted by that? Same. We want to make faster decisions and use all the extra time for something more exciting!

WHERE WE’RE HEADED IN JULY

🇳🇱 Netherlands — We planned a five-day “Summer Break” in Amsterdam, which we’re using as a time to rest and recharge after spending most of June in the car and before back to back road trips.

🇨🇭 Switzerland — Our next adventure destination! We’re hopping back in a campervan to explore the beautiful Swiss Alps and countryside. Excited to (van) camp again!

🇭🇷 Croatia & 🇲🇪 Montenegro & 🇦🇱 Albania — We added the Balkans to our itinerary only a few weeks ago after deciding that Sweden and Norway would be best explored on a future trip. We’re starting in Kotor, Montenegro where we’ll rent a car and drive south to the Albanian Riviera before looping back to Montenegro and ending with two days in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
